“Cyberworkplace is the place to be if you want to become an ethical hacker.”

Please introduce yourself.

My name is Erik, 26 years old. I’ve lived all over the Netherlands but finally settled myself in Ermelo. My education hasn’t always been smooth sailing. I quitted school to become a lifeguard. I am passionate about windsurfing and IT.

When did you join Cyberworkplace? What was your motivation?

I joined Cyberworkplace in February 2020. I felt it was time for a new challenge and a career change. My options were minimal since I haven’t finished school. However, the possibilities online are immense, so I did not know where to start. Luckily Cyberworkplace crossed my Google searches.

What did you like about Cyberworkplace?

Since I was a little kid, I was interested in tech and hacking. Through Cyberworkplace, I learned more about the cybersecurity field while also expanding my network.

What have you learned at Cyberworkplace?

By expanding my network, I have learned that IT people are way more social than I expected. Everyone is super friendly, and sharing knowledge is key.

What is your most favorite moment at Cyberworkplace?

I’ve had many great moments, but my favorite was the first day at Cyberworkplace as it made the most impression on me. The manager took me to the “basement” where Cyberworkplace is located. There were no windows, just a few big tables, tech books, and tech gadgets everywhere -the place to be if you want to become an ethical hacker. I felt like I was one of them.

What are you currently up to?

Currently, I work for UMBRiO. They gave a Splunk course at Cyberworkplace and offered me a traineeship. At Cyberworkplace and UMBRiO, I found the challenge I was looking for. I couldn’t be more thankful.

Describe Cyberworkplace with three words.

For everyone, awesome, motivation.

Would you recommend Cyberworkplace to your friends?

Yes, I did and still do. Even if you do something different but are interested in cybersecurity, get your Fridays off and attend the workshops at Cyberworkplace!

Is there anything else that you would like to add?

I loved my time at Cyberworkplace! If I could, I would still attend every class. I’m thankful for what they gave me and hope I can return the favor one day.
